Bex Oliger’s Hillcreek Yarn Shoppe was born in 2003 as a “daughter company” of Hillcreek Fiber Studio (which is owned and operated by Carol Leigh Brack-Kaiser, Bex’s mom).

Bex is the shoppe owner, manager, and head instructor. She travels the country with her husband, Eric, vending and teaching at wool markets and Fiber Festivals, keeping the shop open when they are home.

Carol Leigh provides much of the shoppe’s wonderful collection of natural dyes and natural dyed yarns and wool potholder loops, as well as some high quality spinning and weaving supplies. Spriggs continuous strand looms, including the patented adjustable looms that were designed by her brother, Carl Spriggs, are available at the shoppe.  These gorgeous looms are hand made in a variety of beautiful hardwoods and are handmade by Carl and step-dad Dennis Kaiser.  One-on-one instruction in their operation is available at the shoppe.

The family enjoys historical re-inactments (including period correct textiles that are naturally dyed, hand spun, hand woven, and hand knit), treasured time with family and friends, and a wide variety of fiber arts including knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting and more.

Bex and family have traveled across the U.S. teaching popular classes in various fiber arts and periodically globe trot to distant lands to learn more about local fiber traditions in native communities to bring back to us in the United States.
